Causes of prostatitis in men: symptoms and treatment of different forms

medical appointment for prostatitis

Prostatitis is the most common disease in men over 40, second only to heart disease in rare cases.When a person is diagnosed, a natural question arises - where does this disease come from?

There are many causes of prostatitis in men;it is almost impossible to name exactly what influenced the development of the pathology in a given patient.However, some factors, such as an incorrect lifestyle and alcohol consumption, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.

Another feature of the disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can immediately cause pathology, while others affect the male body for years, and the first stage of prostatitis is detected only after 40-45 years.

In general, all the causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (regardless of the presence of infection).

Causes of abacterial prostatitis

It is not only the development of infections that leads to the appearance of the disease.Pathology can also be triggered by:

  1. improper structure of the prostate, which leads to compression of the prostate;
  2. deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
  3. decreased testosterone;
  4. constant perineal injuries and too intense physical activity that lead to muscle tension;
  5. unstable sex life, as well as interrupted sexual relations;
  6. too much sexual activity, because of which the body does not recover as it should;
  7. consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which will certainly lead to a deterioration in potency;
  8. too little daily activity, leading to congestion and constipation;
  9. regular hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.

Clinical studies confirm that prostatitis is often caused by poor nutrition, poor food quality, high food additives and flavor enhancers.

Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology

The causes of the bacterial nature include many factors in the development of the disease:

  1. too weak immunity, which can be a consequence of an incorrect lifestyle;
  2. infectious genitourinary diseases (bacteria move from the bladder to the prostate);
  3. venereal diseases.It is most common in young people who do not use barrier contraception;
  4. intestinal diseases.Microorganisms very easily get from the intestine to the prostate, passing "past".

As age progresses, the causes multiply, the body's defenses weaken, so the disease most often develops after the age of 40-45.

The main symptoms of prostatitis in men

There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms are noticeable in the initial stage of the disease, and in the second stage they can no longer be ignored:

  • the urination process is interrupted, becomes more frequent, the pressure weakens, and a dribbling voiding syndrome is observed;
  • sharp pain begins to appear in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen;
  • sexual dysfunction develops and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.

Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:

  • an increase in temperature is possible due to the sharp development of inflammatory processes, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
  • pain radiates to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
  • burning sensation, swelling and increased temperature in the perineal area;
  • the perineum is painful or unpleasant to touch;
  • there is a burning sensation and pain during urination, the urine becomes dark, even blood is visible in it;
  • when you do not want to go to the toilet, urine may leak from the urethra.

Similar symptoms, but less severe, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.After 40 years, a regular medical examination is necessary, as the pathology also has an asymptomatic form.

How do we treat different forms of prostatitis?

There are many ways to treat prostatitis, and not all of them involve major surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the gentler the treatment regimen is.

Drug therapy

For the treatment of prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial form) and alpha-blockers, natural substances are used to increase immunity and eliminate inflammation.Medicines that restore blood circulation are also used.There are a lot of drugs out there, so there will always be one that suits the individual characteristics of a man's body.You cannot choose medicine at the pharmacy;you should always rely on your doctor's prescription.

Surgical intervention

Radical treatment methods are used extremely rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:

  • transurethral resection - a special instrument is inserted into the urethra to remove part of the prostate gland and relieve pressure on the urethra.It is performed without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
  • A prostatectomy is an operation performed through the abdominal cavity to remove a very enlarged prostate.

Non-surgical methods

Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the rehabilitation period that follows them is only a few days, a maximum of 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimal:

  • thermal methods - elimination at high temperature;
  • ultrasound treatment;
  • cryodestruction – removal with liquid nitrogen;
  • laser therapy – splitting a tumor with a laser;
  • magnetic methods with laser reinforcement - use of magnet and laser to improve blood circulation and quick recovery of damaged tissues;
  • Balloon dilation - a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.

Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are also unusual methods of influence, such as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be very effective!
